WNAM MONITORING: Turkmenistan has officially established a new liability insurance mechanism for tour operators, aimed at enhancing the safety of tourism activities and protecting the interests of travel agencies and travelers.

Insurance contracts are issued for the duration of a tourist trip and can be arranged either through a written application from the insured or via electronic services.

The new service, offered by the State Insurance Organization of Turkmenistan, expands the insurance market’s offerings and provides protection for all participants in the tourism process.

Tour operator activity refers to the operations of licensed legal entities engaged in tourism, focused on ensuring safety for travel agencies and travelers. Tour operators have special rights when providing travel organization services. In cases where risks arise—such as threats to travelers’ lives, health, or property while in a temporary or transit country—the insurer assumes responsibility for completing the trip on behalf of the travelers.
