ISLAMABAD ( By Shams Abbasi ): The business community and Federation Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) have welcomed Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s two-day visit to Pakistan, starting December 8th, 2025, as a significant milestone for bilateral economic and trade relations.
FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh termed the visit a “milestone” and “significant” for enhancing trade ties, highlighting the potential for growth in bilateral trade, currently standing at $4.7 billion. He emphasized the need for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to boost trade and suggested exchange of trade delegations to explore market opportunities.
Leaders from various chambers of commerce, including ICCI, LCCI, and KCCI, echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of strengthening economic integration and cooperation. They highlighted opportunities in textiles, halal products, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, IT, and renewable energy.
Chairman Pakistan-Indonesia Business Council (PIBC) Haseeb Khan said the visit aims to strengthen economic, trade, and strategic ties, focusing on trade, defense, infrastructure, energy investments, and people-to-people exchanges.
President Prabowo’s visit is expected to give a new twist to Pakistan-Indonesia relations, with discussions on a wide-ranging agenda, including trade, investment, defense, health, IT, climate, education, and culture.
