ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): President, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Usman Shaukat, on Friday held a meeting with Pakistan’s Trade and Investment Counsellor in New York, Adnan Mehmood Awan, to dig out fresh avenues for expanding bilateral trade and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). The high-level meeting focused on promoting trade facilitation, expanding business-to-business (B2B) collaboration, and exploring untapped markets to increase trade flows between Pakistan and the United States. During the discussions, the RCCI President highlighted the immense potential of Pakistani enterprises, noting that local industries were fully equipped to meet international standards if provided with direct market access. He observed that strengthening commercial ties with the US remained a cornerstone for boosting national exports, adding that both sides need to work closely to simplify trade procedures. According to the chamber’s spokesman, Usman Shaukat underlined the need for sustained interaction between the private sectors of both countries, suggesting that regular exchange of trade delegations would help identify new economic horizons. He lauded the proactive role played by the Pakistani Consulate General in New York in facilitating domestic exporters and organizing promotional activities in the US market. The Counsellor maintained that the consulate was committed to providing maximum assistance to Pakistani business communities, assuring that all efforts would be made to connect local exporters with major American buyers.
He underscored that establishing robust business linkages and streamlining regulatory frameworks would play a pivotal role in driving United States investment into Pakistan’s key industrial sectors.
