UN: A Paper Tiger

It would be unfortunate if the UN also went the way League of Nations had gone. After the havoc caused by the first world war the then super powers had formed the League of Nations in the hope that it will save the world from another world war. The eruption of the second world war dashed that hope to the ground. The creation of the UN after the second world war was, yet another attempt by the super powers to ward off world war but there is a lurking danger now that history might repeat itself as sky is once again overcast with thick clouds of war. Should the war erupt once again it will this time round spell utterdisaster of the world as more than one country are laden with atom bombs the use of which can obliterate humanity once and for all.
It is a pity that the UN has proved itself not more than a paper tiger. It is, a tooth less body playing into the hands of a couple of super powers to whose tune it dances. US is its almoner and Russia too has been playing second fiddle to America in many matters. China has been keeping itself aloof from the ongoing armed conflicts by sitting on the sidelines laughing behind its sleeves in the hope that superpowers involved in the conflicts will soon spend themselves out thus leaving the floor empty to it to rule alone the unipolar world.
