Indonesia posts US$3.70 billion trade surplus in January-July 2026

WNAM REPORT: Indonesia recorded a US$3.70 billion surplus in its goods trade balance during the January-July 2026 period, according to Statistics Indonesia (BPS).

The BPS’s Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Ateng Hartono said in Jakarta on Tuesday that cumulative exports during the period reached US$167.03 billion, up 4.43 percent year on year from US$159.95 billion in the same period last year.

By sector, the manufacturing industry accounted for the largest share of cumulative exports at US$137.26 billion, followed by mining and other sectors at US$19.60 billion, and agriculture, forestry and fisheries at US$3.15 billion.

Meanwhile, imports during January-July 2026 reached US$163.33 billion, an increase of 19.94 percent year on year.
By use, imports were dominated by raw materials and intermediate goods at US$116.70 billion, followed by capital goods at US$32.46 billion and consumer goods at US$14.16 billion.

In July 2026 alone, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of US$120 million, with exports reaching US$26.22 billion, up 6.05 percent year on year, while imports rose 27.02 percent year on year to US$26.09 billion.

Ateng said the manufacturing industry remained the largest contributor to Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports in July, accounting for US$21.76 billion, followed by mining at US$3.10 billion and agriculture, forestry and fisheries at US$570 million.

By use, imports in July 2026 were dominated by raw materials and intermediate goods at US$18.76 billion, followed by capital goods at US$5.10 billion and consumer goods at US$2.24 billion.
