President Zardari Congratulates Vietnam on 81st National Day

WNAM REPORT: President Asif Ali Zardari conveyed his congratulations to President of Vietnam To Lam, the Vietnamese government, and the people of Vietnam on the occasion of their 81st National Day.
In his message, President Zardari noted that since gaining independence in 1945, Vietnam has overcome significant challenges to achieve notable progress across its political, economic and social spheres.
He said Pakistan places great value on its warm relationship with Vietnam and remains committed to deepening bilateral cooperation to realize its full potential for the benefit of both nations.
Zardari noted that the two countries will mark the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year, and extended a formal invitation to President To Lam to visit Pakistan to commemorate the occasion and celebrate the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Vietnam’s Journey Since Independence
Vietnam’s founding leader Ho Chi Minh once described unity as an unstoppable force — a principle that has guided the country through eight decades of revolutionary struggle and nation-building. Over that period, Vietnam has moved from a nation without formal international recognition to one that today maintains diplomatic relations with 194 countries, including every UN member state. It has built strategic or comprehensive partnerships with 45 nations, joined 70 major international organizations, and become party to 17 free trade agreements.
Once devastated by decades of war, Vietnam has since emerged as a dynamic, globally integrated economy with substantial trade volume and a significant role in international production networks. Following roughly 40 years of the Doi Moi reform program, the country has transformed from an underdeveloped economy into an upper-middle-income nation.
Despite enduring immense hardship and sacrifice throughout its history, the Vietnamese people fought to secure and protect national independence and reunification, gradually building a stable, peaceful and increasingly prosperous nation — one where citizens enjoy greater freedom and opportunity, and where the country has become a welcoming destination for international investors and visitors alike.
This progress reflects the nation’s persistent determination, its spirit of unity, and its continued drive to move forward — a path shaped by the leadership of Vietnam’s Communist Party, which has framed public service as central to its mission, as well as by the support Vietnam has received from international partners over the decades.
On the occasion of this 81st National Day, well-wishers extended greetings of health and happiness to all in attendance, as well as to compatriots and international friends, expressing hope for continued partnership in building a strong, prosperous and equitable Vietnam — and for peace, cooperation and development to remain defining features of international relations for generations to come.
