WNAM MONITORING: Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva met with the ombudsmen of Hungary, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Mongolia, and Türkiye, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in an international conference in connection with the 29th anniversary of the institution of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman).
The parties discussed strengthening cooperation in protecting human rights and exchanging experience in ensuring the fulfillment of international obligations.
In turn, the guests highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan in ensuring human rights and freedoms and granting, according to the country’s Constitution in the new edition, the institution of the Ombudsman the right to submit proposals to the lower house of parliament as a legislative initiative.
Following the meeting, which was held in a constructive spirit, an agreement was reached with the ombudsmen of foreign countries on the mutual exchange of experience and further enhancing partnerships.
