Jakarta(WNAM Monitoring): Indonesia is keen to further intensify cooperation in the manpower field fostered with Saudi Arabia to expand work opportunities for Indonesian migrant workers, Indonesian Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor stated.
“We hope that the Saudi Arabian government will provide an even broader work opportunity to Indonesian migrants working in the formal and informal sectors in Saudi Arabia,” Noor noted in his ministry’s statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
The deputy minister made the statement during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Mudi at the Saudi Arabian Embassy, Jakarta, on Wednesday (April 24).
Noor informed the ambassador that the Indonesian government would continue to strengthen manpower cooperation and collaborate to achieve both the Saudi 2030 and Golden Indonesia 2045 visions under a strategic partnership.
He also expressed optimism about Indonesia and Saudi Arabia opening broader job opportunities for Indonesian migrant workers while emphasizing the need for the two countries to maintain their harmonious economic relations.
“The well-fostered economic relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia need to be maintained and continued,” he pointed out.
Ambassador Al-Mudi, for his part, expressed hope that migrant workers from Indonesia would continue to partake in the development of the gulf country.
The governments of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have been in collaboration to implement the One Canal Placement System (SPSK) that allows Indonesian workers to get six types of jobs in Saudi Arabia.
Under the system, Indonesian migrants seeking to work in Saudi Arabia need to register themselves with job placement companies. The system prohibits individual job placements to protect Indonesian migrant workers.
