WNAM MONITORING: Azerbaijan’s Baku city has been designated as the World Capital of Sport for the year 2026 by the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES Europe), the organization said in its official letter sent to Azerbaijan on May 6.
In its letter, the ACES Europe hailed the exemplary activity aimed at strengthening the health of the population in Azerbaijan, as well as the existing sports infrastructure in accordance with high standards, and the promotion of sports in the country.
The official presentation of Baku as the World Capital of Sport 2026 is scheduled to be held at the European Parliament in Brussels by late 2025.
