WNAM REPORT: Kanat Ziyanov, the deputy head of the criminal justice system department of the East Kazakhstan region, was accused of “favoring” Medet Kumargaliyev, the former head of “Operator ROP” company, and was sentenced to 1 year. The judge also banned him from public office for life. The verdict was issued on July 3. This is stated in the decision of court No. 2 of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk published in the courtroom.
According to the information, on the instructions of Ziyanov, prison 17 employees delivered a smartphone to the prisoner Kumargaliyev. The defendant freely used WhatsApp and Telegram networks and transferred money from abroad to the bank application on his mobile phone. In addition, the convict procured meat for himself, even though it was not on the list of foods allowed to be brought into the colony by parcel. Kumargaliyev’s brother made a request to Ziyanov every time he was taking things to the prison.
This year, on the eve of the new year, the convict’s wife and children went to Ust-Kamenogorsk to celebrate the holiday. On January 4, the defendant met his wife, children and relatives in one of the dental clinics in the city. He went outside without consulting a colony doctor and got a permit for dental treatment in a private hospital.
“The dentist pretended to see Kumargaliyev and left the office. At that moment, his relatives entered. But the guards did not show any resistance to those who entered,” the court decision reads.
In the decision, it is said that the defendant did not observe the order of meeting with outside visitors once every two months, and met with visitors earlier.
