WNAM REPORT: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan has issued an alert of torrential rains and floods in parts of the country, an official statement said.
The national emergency operation center of the NDMA stated on Tuesday that the monsoon rains from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal have entered the upper regions of Pakistan, resulting in a series of rains in different parts of the country till July 27th.
Storms, strong winds and rains are expected in parts of southern Sindh, eastern Punjab and northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, the statement added.
As a result of the rains, flash flooding is expected in urban areas, and landslides are expected in hilly areas, the authority said. The NDMA has directed the relevant provincial authorities to take necessary precautions to minimize the possible effects of floods and landslides.
Emergency response teams have been alerted, and resources have been made available to ensure a quick response to any potential emergency, the statement added.
The public has been advised to take precautions to avoid flash flooding and follow alerts on the authority’s mobile application for timely alerts, advisories, and specific guidelines related to hazards during torrential rains.
