WNAM MONITORING: The Registan ensemble in Samarkand will host the Domestic Tourism Fair. On August 6, tour operators, travel agents, representatives of government agencies, hotels, hostels, and guest houses from all regions of Uzbekistan will gather here.
There, they can meet with potential partners and discuss opportunities for further cooperation. Roundtable discussions will also be organized for representatives of tourism enterprises specializing in domestic tourism and heads of government agencies from different regions of Uzbekistan. The fair’s participants will enjoy a rich cultural program and visit all the sights of Samarkand region.
Samarkand is known for its mosques and mausoleums. The Great Silk Road, a trade route that connected China with the Mediterranean countries, ran through Samarkand. Among its most important attractions is Registan Square, which has three madrassas from the 15th and 17th centuries, richly decorated with majolica, and the Gur-Emir mausoleum – the majestic tomb of Amir Timur.
