WNAM REPORT: President Prabowo Subianto urged his cabinet to continue initiatives for industrial downstreaming and to strengthen food and energy self-sufficiency, according to Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya, who attended a Cabinet retreat in Magelang, Central Java, on Friday.
“Essentially, we need to think about how to continue downstreaming and ensure food and energy self-sufficiency,” Arya said when discussing Prabowo’s briefing.
Another important message from the president was the need to safeguard against foreign influence in national development. “Do not allow foreign interests to intervene in our affairs,” Arya quoted him as saying.
After a morning of sports and breakfast, Prabowo opened the retreat by delivering directives to the officials, which included ministers, deputy ministers, heads of government agencies, special aides, and presidential advisors.
The event lasted about 4.5 hours, with a break for the Friday prayer session at noon.
The retreat is a key agenda item for the ministers, aimed at strengthening collaboration and coordination within Prabowo’s administration, as stated by Yusuf Permana, deputy for protocol, press, and media at the Presidential Secretariat.
The Red and White Cabinet Retreat also included briefings on various issues, such as governance and corruption prevention.
During the first plenary meeting of his Cabinet at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday (October 23), the president expressed hope that the ministerial briefing at the Military Academy would instill courage and heroism among cabinet members, as Magelang is known for its historical resistance against colonial forces.
