WNAM REPORT: During the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in Baku from November 11-22, temporary changes will be made to the operations of Heydar Aliyev International Airport, as per reports.
The aim of these changes is to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers. It is recommended that passengers plan their travels in advance during this period.
– November 10-14: Only passengers with flight tickets will be allowed to enter Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. To prevent overcrowding in the waiting areas, people accompanying passengers are asked not to come to the airport. The parking zone in front of the airport will be reserved exclusively for special-purpose vehicles. Therefore, from November 10-14, no vehicles will be allowed to park on airport grounds, and only passenger drop-offs will be permitted. Drivers planning to park their cars for a long duration before November 10 are asked to consider these restrictions, as any vehicles left behind will be evacuated.
– Recommended routes for drivers coming from the city center:
– Nizami Street → Yusif Safarov Street → Izzet Orujov Street → Fazail Bayramov Street → November 8th Avenue → Zig Highway.
– For those coming from Bilgah and Mashtaga, it is recommended to take the route through Mardakan and Shuvelan to connect to Zig Highway.
– COP29 Period (November 10-22): H1 and H2 express buses will provide passengers with easy access to the airport. The H1 bus will operate every 10 minutes from the “28 May” metro station, and the H2 bus will run every 15 minutes from the “Ahmedli” metro station, offering uninterrupted and free service.
– Passenger recommendations: Given the possible transport restrictions, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before their flight and to check in online in advance to minimize delays.
The airport is taking all necessary measures and adopting an enhanced work schedule to ensure continuous and high-quality service during the expected high passenger traffic of COP29.
