WNAM REPORT: Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid said on November 20 that the country is intensifying its cyber patrol to detect and prevent online gambling which has become increasingly complicated here.
At the “Combating Online Gambling and New Crimes in the Era of Digital Economy 5.0” event in Jakarta, she said the ministry is utilising the latest technologies such as AI to identify online gambling content.
Since 2017, the ministry had cut off access to 5.1 million pieces of gambling content, including 3.5 million pieces of content blocked in 2024 alone, she said, adding it has worked with competent sides to improve the digital literacy for locals in 27 provinces across the nation.
She called on digital financial service providers to support authorities to eradicate online gambling practices.
The Indonesian established the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force in June.
