WNAM MONITORING: Russia handed over a home-built stealth-guided missile frigate to India, state intermediary agency for arms exports and imports said on Monday.
A statement by Rosoboronexport on Telegram said that the official commissioning ceremony for the INS Tushil was held in Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave in the Baltic Sea, with the participation of Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who arrived in Russia on Sunday.
“The raising of the Indian flag on the Tushil is another important stage in Russian-Indian military-technical cooperation,” Rosoboronexport CEO Aleksandr Mikheyev was quoted as saying.
Mikheyev further said the frigate is equipped with 20 Indian-made naval systems and BrahMos supersonic missile system.
He went on to say that Rosoboronexport and India are implementing about 10 joint naval projects and are discussing several others.
“Delighted to attend the Commissioning Ceremony of INS Tushil, the latest multi-role stealth-guided missile frigate, at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad (Russia),” Singh said on X.
He added that the frigate is a “proud testament to India’s growing maritime strength and a significant milestone in long-standing bilateral relations with Russia.”
