WNAM REPORT: The issues were discussed at a meeting of Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Sanzhar Bolotov with Andrew Glass, the Commercial Chief of the U.S. Department of Commerce and Liz Zentos, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek.
The deputy minister noted the positive dynamics of mutual trade growth and emphasized that there is already a successful experience of cooperation between the U.S. and Kyrgyzstan in such important areas as healthcare, education, women’s entrepreneurship, including under projects of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Sanzhar Bolotov outlined the existing mechanisms of cooperation, proposed new areas of interaction and offered a number of specific measures to intensify bilateral economic cooperation.
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the IT sector, including blockchain and cryptocurrencies, as well as in such areas as energy, tourism, venture capital investment, textile industry and others.
The meeting also addressed the development and deepening of interaction between the business communities of the two countries. The participants agreed on the need to intensify contacts between small and medium-sized businesses, organize more substantive business forums to establish direct ties between companies of the two countries, as well as attract technologies, innovations and investments to the republic.
