WNAM REPORT: Moscow highly appreciates Brasilia’s desire to contribute to the settlement in Ukraine and its unwillingness to join the sanctions regime, Russian Ambassador to Brazil Alexey Labetsky said in an interview with sources.
“I would like to separately note that we highly appreciate the fact that Brazil has not joined the sanctions regime, has refused any arms supplies to the Ukrainian conflict zone and is eager to contribute to finding ways to settle the situation around Ukraine,” he said.
At the same time, the ambassador pointed out that in the outgoing year political contacts between the countries developed very dynamically both at the bilateral level and in the formats of the G20 and BRICS. “During this period, Brazil was visited by the Russian ministers of foreign affairs, finance and culture, the Prosecutor General. Brazilian parliamentarians participated in all parliamentary events held within the framework of BRICS. High representatives in charge of security issues met several times. So the dynamics are extremely positive and retain the potential for further growth, despite all the vicissitudes we observe in the global arena,” Labetsky emphasized.
According to the diplomat, Moscow realizes “the need to further expand the formats of political and economic cooperation, including investment”. “And – what is very important – we see the desire of our Brazilian partners to look for ways to solve the new problems that arise in the rapidly changing global world,” he concluded.
