WNAM REPORT: President Prabowo Subianto met with Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid to discuss a strategy to protect children in digital spaces.
On Monday, Hafid visited the president at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, to report on various digital transformation programs run by her side, including the digitalization of government systems (e-government).
“We also discussed efforts to protect our children in the digital realm. We will see it later,” she remarked after meeting the president.
Hafid then highlighted the possibility of drafting government regulations while reviewing stronger regulations to protect children in the digital space.
“We will study it first, but in principle, while bridging more stable regulations, we will issue government regulations first,” she remarked.
In addition, she stated that the government would also involve the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to jointly determine the formulation of regulations.
“We issue the regulations while discussing with the DPR regarding the law that we can issue to protect our children,” she noted.
