WNAM REPORT: Indonesia has reached a record level of coal production in 2024, according to the country’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.According to Vietnam News Agency, preliminary data points to a volume of 831 million tonnes, 17 per cent higher than the government’s target. As the world’s largest exporter of coal, Indonesia is actively using this resource to meet domestic energy needs.
However, the country’s authorities continue to work towards the goal set by President Prabowo Subianto to completely phase out coal-fired power plants by 2040.
Earlier, it was reported that Indonesia started imposing 12% VAT on luxury goods and services.
