There isn’t much difference between a monarchy and dynastic politics in parliamentary democracy in vogue in this country The kings nominate their heir apparent during their life time as crown prince. In our brand of parliamentary democracy being practised in this country the head of almost every political party maneuvers intra party elections in such a manner that his son, daughter, brother or any next of kin is got elected to number two position in the party’s hierarchy so that in case the head of the party joins the great majority the top slot in the party remains within his family Every political party has thus become a fiefdom It goes to the credit of JI that it has evolved a system of intra party election in such a manner in which even an ordinary party worker can make it to the top Had it been not so persons like Qazi Hussain Ahmad and maulana Siraj ul Haque would not have made it to the top.Why can’t other political parties evolve a similar system of intra party elections in their parties?
This state of affairs naturally gives rise to the question that if a political party is not in a position to introduce true democracy at the party
level how can it be expected to usher in democratic values in the country on coming to power .The voters should be politically wise enough to vote into power those political parties which are democratic in the true sense of the word and not pseudo democrats.
