WNAM REPORT: Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Beibut Atamkulov has held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov.
During the talks held Feb 21, the sides summarized the results of bilateral cooperation in agriculture in 2024 and reviewed the schedule of events slated for 2025.
The parties discussed the implementation of projects included in action plan and decisions of the Supreme Interstate Council, reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the Republic of Kazakhstan in August 2024.
The sides also highlighted the need to interact and expand cooperation between agricultural scientific-research institutions in the field of selection, seed production, soil science and rational use of water.
Following the meeting, the sides expressed readiness for further interaction and strengthening the bilateral relations in agriculture.
In 2024, mutual trade between the two countries hit $4.1 billion, of which agricultural products amounted to $1.66 billion. Exports from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reached $1.41 billion, while imports from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan amounted to $250 million.
