Tashkent( WNAM MONITORING): As part of the official visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Davron Vakhabov and Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov met with representatives of Pakistan’s leading transport companies.
The discussions focused on key challenges and barriers in the logistics sector, particularly organizational and operational difficulties faced by Pakistani logistics companies when establishing shortest routes through multimodal corridors.
Uzbekistan’s role as a logistics hub in Central Asia was also highlighted. Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov proposed strengthening Uzbekistan’s position as a regional transport center, facilitating deeper integration of transport and logistics networks between the two countries.
A key topic was the “Trans-Afghan” project, which would provide Uzbekistan direct access to Pakistan’s Karachi port, further solidifying its status as a major logistics hub in the region. The Pakistani side expressed full support for this initiative.
As a result of the meeting, both sides agreed to expedite agreements on further logistics development and strategic cooperation.
This partnership is expected to be a significant step toward deeper economic integration and the creation of a more efficient regional transport system.
