WNAM REPORT: A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Center for State Environmental Expertise recently visited the Republic of Korea.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation with the Korea Environment Institute (KEI) and expand collaboration on joint projects, including the digitization of environmental impact assessment systems, the enhancement of strategic ecological assessments, and the establishment of a testing laboratory. Additionally, a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two institutions.
As part of the visit, a seminar was organized in South Korea for the delegation from Uzbekistan’s Center for State Environmental Expertise. The seminar focused on developing a roadmap to improve Uzbekistan’s environmental assessment system and enhance the country’s capabilities in combating climate change.
During the visit of specialists from Uzbekistan’s Center for State Environmental Expertise to Korea, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Environmental Assessment Group of the Korea Environment Institute.
The memorandum facilitates enhanced cooperation within the framework of the project concept titled “Strengthening the Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment Systems in Uzbekistan through Technological Upgrades and Implementation of Advanced Monitoring Technologies”, which is supported by KOICA. It also aims to increase public participation and encourage greater community involvement in environmental decision-making processes, as well as implement pilot projects aimed at reducing the carbon footprint.
