ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): In a significant step towards promoting environmental stewardship among youth, the Sustainable Climate and Women Empowerment Initiative (SCWEI), in collaboration with Al-Ilm Model School and Academy in Islamabad, organized an impactful climate awareness session aimed at empowering students and teachers with knowledge and tools to combat climate change.
The session opened with a compelling address by SCWEI’s Climate Change Consultant, Mr. Jalil Khan, who called for the integration of climate education into school curricula nationwide. “Educating the next generation is crucial to facing the environmental challenges ahead,” he noted, while also enlightening students about the scientific importance of the Earth’s atmospheric layers.
Mr. Asfandyar Khan, Executive Director of SCWEI, and Ms. Sidra Zaka, General Secretary, delivered thought-provoking presentations on practical approaches to climate change mitigation. “Tackling climate change demands collective action and every individual’s role matters in shaping a sustainable future,” said Ms. Zaka.
The event served not only as an educational milestone but also as a platform to instill a sense of responsibility and eco-consciousness among participants. In recognition of the school’s enthusiastic collaboration, Ms. Farhat Jabeen Khattak presented a certificate of appreciation to the school principal.
The session concluded with a mutual pledge to foster a green mindset across the school community, aligning with SCWEI’s ongoing mission to nurture a climate-resilient and environmentally aware society.
