WNAM REPORT: President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the opening of the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
This was confirmed by the Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Mardani Ali Sera, in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He noted that the presence of President Prabowo, along with DPR Speaker Puan Maharani, would underscore Indonesia’s role as a bridge between nations.
“The message is the same: Indonesia is ready to be a bridge for all, towards the same prosperity, shared peace,” he affirmed.
Sera also stated that the 19th PUIC Conference’s main theme, “Good Governance and Strong Institutions,” would be highlighted at the opening.
The theme is intended to encourage member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to enhance good governance and strong institutions in pursuit of social and economic progress.
The BKSAP chair further emphasized that good governance and strong institutions are essential for addressing external regional dynamics.
He also stressed the importance of each country reflecting on its own challenges related to those two aspects.
The events of the 19th Session of the PUIC Conference run from May 12 to 15, 2025, at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta.
This year’s conference coincides with the 25th anniversary of the PUIC, established in 1999. The event is expected to draw 450 delegates from parliaments of OIC member states and observer countries.
