WNAM MONITORING: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, expressing hope that it would contain further escalation and help restore calm between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The remarks came during the opening session of the GCC-USA summit in Riyadh, held in the presence of US President Donald Trump. The crown prince praised the ceasefire and emphasised Saudi Arabia’s commitment to regional peace.
“We welcome the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India and hope that it will contain escalation and restore calm between the two countries,” he said.
The Saudi crown prince also reiterated the Kingdom’s broader regional goals, including working with the US and GCC nations to de-escalate conflicts, end the war in Gaza, and pursue a lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue.
“Our objective is to ensure security and peace for the peoples of the region,” he said. “We reiterate our support for all endeavors aimed at resolving crises and halting conflicts through peaceful means.”
