WNAM REPORT: The Indonesian government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a conducive and sustainable business climate, including for investors from South Korea.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir made the statement during a meeting with his South Korean counterpart, Kim Hong Kyun, on May 14.
In a press release issued Saturday, Nasir emphasized that amid global economic uncertainty, it is increasingly important for the two countries to strengthen their economic partnership, particularly in investment and trade.
“South Korea is a strategic partner for Indonesia, and Indonesia is ready to further intensify the partnership by encouraging strategic engagement between the two heads of state,” Nasir stated.
Indonesia also expressed support for South Korea’s upcoming Chairmanship of MIKTA in 2025 and reiterated its commitment to multilateralism in the face of global challenges.
Nasir noted that this can be achieved by enhancing MIKTA’s role as a constructive force in global governance.
MIKTA is a coalition of middle powers—Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia—formed in 2013 to promote effective and inclusive global cooperation.
Kim Hong Kyun, in turn, reaffirmed South Korea’s dedication to strengthening the Special Strategic Partnership with Indonesia.
“Indonesia is an important partner for South Korea, and I am confident that the new South Korean administration will continue to commit to strengthening this partnership,” he affirmed.
Kim also extended an invitation to President Prabowo Subianto to attend the APEC Leaders’ Summit in Gyeongju in October 2025.
Indonesia confirmed its readiness to support South Korea’s Chairmanship of APEC and collaborate in advancing agreements that will positively impact the global economy.
