KARACHI ( WNAM REPORT ): Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Pham Anh Tuan, has expressed Vietnam’s interest in boosting trade and economic ties with Pakistan, as bilateral trade nears the $1 billion milestone.
During his first official visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), the ambassador noted that the current trade volume stands at about $850 million. He expressed hope that, with joint efforts, the two countries can reach or surpass the $1 billion mark by the end of this year or early next year.
Highlighting the need for stronger institutional linkages, Tuan suggested increased collaboration between the chambers of both countries, timely exchange of trade information, regular business delegations, and active participation in trade fairs. These efforts, he said, could help both nations explore new trade and investment opportunities while promoting their products to wider markets.
He emphasised it is time to realise the full potential of VietnamPakistan economic relations. With the support of KCCI’s leadership and Karachi’s business community, the two sides could significantly boost cooperation. He also recalled that the prime ministers of both countries had reaffirmed their commitment to enhanced trade ties during a meeting in Saudi Arabia last year.
Reflecting on his experience in Pakistan, the ambassador said that despite joining the embassy just ten months ago, he has gained a good understanding of the country’s people and business environment.
