ISLAMABAD (WNAM REPORT ): “Pakistan has a bright future in the field of technology, and if student-led projects are commercialised, they can unlock significant business opportunities for the country,” said Professor. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, Vice Chancellor, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), while inaugurated the “Open House Career Fair 2025” held at the university on Wednesday.
He lauded the creativity and technical skills displayed by final-year Computer Science students and emphasised that such initiatives not only showcase academic talent but also prepare students to meet the demands of professional life. “AIOU is committed to blending academic education with practical training, and this is reflected in the rapid progress of the Department of Computer Science,” he added.
The event featured a wide range of student projects, attracting industry professionals, sponsors, and academics. A research corner was also set up to highlight research-based student initiatives.
Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Professor. Dr. Sher Muhammad, noted that bringing students, industry partners, and sponsors together under one roof fosters meaningful engagement and opens new employment avenues. He stressed the need for students to not only graduate but also thrive in economic, scientific, and technological fields.
Chairman, Computer Science Department, Dr. Aftab Khan, shared that 12 final-year projects were exhibited, while two industrial partners participated in the fair. Certificates were distributed among outstanding students at the end of the event.
