WNAM REPORT: At the GSMA Digital Nation Summit 2025, Telenor Pakistan emphasized the need for a forward-looking policy environment and greater integration of AI technologies to unlock Pakistan’s next wave of digital advancement.
Speaking at the summit, Khurrum Ashfaque, CEO of Telenor Pakistan, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to inclusive digitalization, highlighting the potential of AI to transform network operations, improve user experience, and enable smarter service delivery across the country. “We’re optimistic about how AI can help us optimize networks, better predict customer needs, and expand digital access in a more efficient and intelligent way,” he shared.
Ashfaque noted that Pakistan stands at a promising inflection point, where the convergence of connectivity, AI, and a clear national digital direction could drive real socioeconomic impact. “This is a pivotal moment. By aligning on long-term priorities—especially in areas like spectrum policy, technology adoption, and digital inclusion—we can collectively accelerate progress,” he said.
In a session on expanding future connectivity, Ahsan Maykan, Chief Marketing Officer, stressed the need for infrastructure sharing to reduce duplication and improve coverage in underserved areas. He advocated for a national framework enabling shared use of towers, spectrum, and fibre through public-private partnerships.
Speaking during a panel discussion, Cynia Ejaz, Head of Corporate Innovation at Telenor, shared the company’s commitment to inclusive digital transformation. She highlighted key initiatives such as Easypaisa, Khushal Watan, Open Mind Pakistan, and Digital Birth Registration—each designed to create opportunities, empower communities, and build long-term resilience through innovation.
The summit gathered government leaders, industry experts, and innovators to discuss how emerging technologies, responsible policies, and people-centric innovation can come together to build a more connected and empowered Pakistan.
