WNAM REPORT: The Third International Conference on Social Sciences, titled “Innovations and Interdisciplinary Strategies in Social Sciences,” was held on Monday at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) where experts emphasized the need for high-quality research, contemporary trends and solution-oriented studies in social sciences.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood in his address stated that innovation today is not limited to technology but lies in its effective application. He highlighted the importance of bringing experts from different fields together on a single platform to address complex social issues and linking research with the real needs of communities and society. Dr. Nasir further noted that true success in any field is possible only when its social aspects are fully understood, because without understanding the social context, effective policies cannot be formulated, nor can people’s lives be meaningfully improved.
Keynote speeches were delivered by Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Sahir, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Professor Dr. Tanveer Anjum from Quaid-i-Azam University. Professor Abdul Aziz Sahir remarked that social sciences and human behavior are deeply connected to the human soul. He noted that guidance came to the earth first, and humans later; therefore, as long as humans exist, social sciences will continue to thrive. He emphasized the need to promote humanity, tolerance, and love through social sciences so that behaviors fostering harmony and goodwill extend even to neighbors’ homes.
The conference convener, Professor Dr. Syed Muhammad Amir Shah, and Secretary Dr. Salman Ali Qureshi also addressed the event, highlighting the role of academic dialogue, research collaboration, and international partnerships in social development.
The conference was organized by the Department of Business Administration, and 166 research papers will be presented to promote research in social sciences.
