OIC-COMSTECH Announces Winners of COMSTECH Awards 2025

WNAM REPORT: Recognizing excellence in science and technology, the Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), an important intergovernmental organization of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has announced the recipients of the COMSTECH Awards 2025. These prestigious awards honour outstanding contributions to scientific research, innovation, and technological advancement across the OIC member states.

The awards were conferred following a rigorous triple-blind review process conducted by world-renowned scientists, ensuring the highest standards of transparency, merit, and academic excellence. The awards are formally approved and signed by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in his capacity as Chairman of COMSTECH, and are presented during the General Assembly of COMSTECH.

The recipients have demonstrated exceptional dedication and have made significant contributions in their respective scientific disciplines, as detailed below:

COMSTECH Life-Time Contributions Award in Chemistry:
Dr. Abdolreza (Arash) Simchi (Iran)

COMSTECH Life-Time Contributions Award in Biology:
Prof. Mehboob-ur-Rahman (Pakistan)

COMSTECH Young Researcher Award:
Dr. Abdur Rauf (Pakistan)
Dr. Zafar Said (United Arab Emirates)

COMSTECH Best Patent Award:
Prof. Lim Hong Ngee (Malaysia)
Prof. İshak Afşin Kariper (Türkiye)

COMSTECH Best Research Paper Awards:
Biology: Dr. Lobat Taghavi (Iran)
Chemistry: Prof. Dr. Zia ur Rehman (Pakistan) and Dr. Adel Ali Ismail (Egypt)
Mathematics: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sharif (Pakistan)
Physics: Dr. Bobomurat Ahmedov (Uzbekistan)

OIC-COMSTECH extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees for their remarkable achievements and invaluable contributions to advancing science and innovation in the OIC member states. Each recipient will be presented with a certificate signed by His Excellency the President of Pakistan (Chairman, COMSTECH), a shield of honour, and a cash prize ranging from US$2,500 to US$8,000, in accordance with their respective award categories.
