WNAM Monitoring: Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairperson of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Decent Work Tanzila Narbayeva held talks with the UK Modern Slavery Envoy Justin Bedford.
The parties discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda in social and labor relations and social protection of the population.
The Special Representative was informed about reforms to support the social sphere and about the social rights provided for by the renewed Constitution. The ban on forced and child labor and the new edition of the Labor Code, designed to create favorable working conditions, were discussed.
Issues of establishing an exchange of experience in combating human trafficking and forced labor and improving legal documents in this direction were considered.
The British side highly appreciated the activities of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor, which, at the end of 2023, was transformed into the National Commission on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Decent Work.
The parties expressed their readiness to cooperate in implementing new joint projects and programs, using advanced technologies, and introducing innovative methods in labor relations.
