Jakarta:(WNAM Monitoring) President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana cast their votes for the 2024 General Elections at the Polling Station Number 10 of Gambir Village, Gambir Sub-district, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.

The two arrived at the polling station at 8:50 a.m. local time. President Jokowi donned a white shirt and black trousers, while Iriana wore a light green kebaya traditional attire.

The president and the first lady were welcomed enthusiastically on arrival by seven members of the Voting Organizing Team (KPPS), including people waiting for their turn to vote.

The serial numbers of Jokowi and Iriana in the polling station’s electoral roll were 50 and 47 respectively.

The president queued up for around three minutes before his turn came to cast his vote in the polling booth, followed by Iriana who voted in a polling booth next to Jokowi’s.

After the two cast their ballot papers, they placed them into the ballot boxes and then dipped their little fingers in the election ink and showed them to the press later.

President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana left the polling station at around 09:06 local time.

Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto was among several state officials present at the polling station.

Indonesia is holding the 2024 General Elections on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, with around 204.8 million voters expected to participate.

During the elections, Indonesians vote for a president and a vice president as well as members of the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD) at the provincial, city, and district levels.

Three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates contesting the elections are Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
