TEHRAN: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Iran and Malaysia agricultural officials on long-term cooperation in the field of rice research.
During the visit of the Malaysian agricultural delegation to the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (ARREO), a memorandum of understanding was signed between the ARREO and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute on behalf of the two countries’ ministries of agriculture in order to develop long-term cooperation in the field rice research.
“We expect to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields of the agricultural sector in the form of executive programs,” Seyyed Mojtaba Khayamenkoui, the chairman of ARREO said.
“In the field of research on aquatic waste and the production of insecticides using medicinal plant extracts, we also expressed readiness to enter for joint research,” he added.
He announced the possibility of setting up a joint factory to produce aquatic vaccines in Malaysia, adding that, “The ARREO organization is also ready to cooperate with Malaysia in the field of animal products research activities.”
“This organization operates with 21 institutes, 34 provincial centers and 314 research stations across the country and has more than 1,800 researchers who are university professors,” he continued.
