WNAM MONITORING: Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva received the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Asia, the Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Kaha Imnadze.

At the meeting, the current state of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN and its specialized agencies, including the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, as well as joint plans for the future were discussed.

Cooperation with the center covers issues such as ensuring peace and security, combating terrorism, harnessing the potential of women and youth to strengthen peace, preventing and resolving conflicts, as well as the joint and rational use of transboundary water and energy resources.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that Uzbekistan, within the UN framework, puts forward initiatives that find support from the world community and are a practical contribution to ensuring stability, and sustainable development, and the protection of human rights.

The effectiveness of various platforms for dialogue and cooperation at the regional level was noted, including the Women Leaders Dialogue of Central Asian Countries, which in just three years has become a timely platform for developing popular proposals in ensuring gender equality. At the same time, special attention was focused on the active activities of the center.

To implement new effective measures within the framework of the Women Leaders Dialogue of Central Asian Countries, it was proposed to consider the issue of opening a permanent Dialogue Secretariat in Tashkent.

At the same time, during the conversation, special attention was paid to issues related to realizing the potential of young people, who comprise half of Uzbekistan’s population. In particular, an exchange of views took place regarding establishing practical cooperation in this area with the Center for increasing the knowledge of members of the Youth Parliament under the Senate in modern methods and tools of preventive diplomacy.

Kaha Imnadze noted that relations between the countries of the Central Asian region ensure peace, stability, and growth in all aspects and emphasized the special contribution of Uzbekistan to this matter.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on further development of close and constructive cooperation on several pressing issues of a regional nature.
