WNAM REPORT: President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rawalpindi and Chairman Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Saqib Rafiq has said that on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif a comprehensive cleaning operation plan has been launched. Month long clean Rawalpindi drive has been kicked off under Suthra Punjab vision.
Saqib Rafiq further added that he personally reviewed the cleanliness drive at Committee Chowk, Waris Khan and Gwalmandi Bridge in different areas of the city. It is appreciable that RWMC workers were engaged cleaning drive despite the rain. The daily target is to make Rawalpindi completely zero waste.
Saqib Rafiq said that RWMC has started the cleaning campaign from March 1 as per the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif which will continue till March 31. Mechanical sweeping, road washing, street cleaning of the important roads of the city including vegetable market, bus terminals and graveyards are being given top priority. He said to establish more transfer stations in the city and widening the scope of RWMC the recommendations and suggestions have been passed to the Commissioner’s Office and the Government of Punjab. “Our mission is to make Rawalpindi clean and a model city under the Suthra Punjab vision.”
He said special attention is being paid to the cleanliness campaign, and the complaints received will be resolved immediately. “Awareness camps will be set up at union council level across Rawalpindi Division. People will be encouraged to take an active part in this campaign, he added.
