WNAM ONITORING: The reports of the ambassadors of Uzbekistan in Egypt, Israel, Iran and Afghanistan were heard at the session of the Senate Committee for International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism.
According to the Senate’s press service, the hearings were part of the parliamentary oversight. Senators focused on the swift and high implementation of investment projects and trade agreements outlined in roadmaps for the development of bilateral ties.
Reportedly, it is planned to implement 46 investment and trade deals with Iran with a total worth of US$ 362 million. These investments made it possible to start modernization of food and construction industry enterprises, communal infrastructure of the provinces, as well as to launch new enterprises.
4 investment projects worth 18.8 million dollars and 15 export contracts worth US$ 14.5 million were successfully implemented with the direct support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Israel. In addition, the senators emphasized the significant work of the diplomatic mission in ensuring the safety of the country’s citizens and their evacuation during the military operations that escalated in the Middle East.
With the efforts of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Egypt, 40 tons of anti-hepatitis C and B drugs with a total value of 4.2 million dollars were delivered to the country as free aid.
The volume of exports to Afghanistan increased by US$ 100.4 million, i.e. by 113.3 percent, compared to the corresponding period of last year ($756.2 million).
The reports of the ambassadors of Uzbekistan to Turkey and Azerbaijan were also heard at the meeting of the Senate’s committee on international relations, foreign economic relations, foreign investments and tourism, which was held on February 19 of this year.
