TEHRAN: Russian President has praised Iran for a “tactful” and “wise” response to Israeli aggression on its consulate in Damascus, Syria.
Iranian president Ebrahim Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi discussed the recent drone and missile retaliatory attack on the Zionist Israeli regime with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin by phone on Tuesday.
In the phone conversation, the Iranian president described Tehran’s response to Tel Aviv regime as in conformity with international law and thanked Moscow for its principled and constructive stance against the Israeli aggression on Iran’s consulate in Damascus on April 1.
The retaliatory True Promise Operation was aimed at punishing the aggressor Israel for its strike on Iran’s Syria consulate, stressing that “We firmly declare that we will respond to any action against Iran’s interests with greater force and broader and more painful than the previous [response].”
Expressing gratitude for the diplomatic efforts of the Russian government to thwart the conspiracies designed by the United States and some Western countries in the UN Security Council, Raeisi stated that, “To those countries that have adopted double standards in the face of the crimes of the Zionist regime and express concerns about escalating tensions in the region, we advise them to rather stop supporting the Zionists genocide and crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people to preserve peace and stability in the region.”
The Russian President, for his part, condemned the terrorist act of the Zionist regime against the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran and considered the act to be against all international standards and rules.
Vladimir Putin also clarified that, “What the Islamic Republic of Iran did in response to that act that happened criminally and in the light of the inaction of the Security Council, was the best way to punish the aggressor and represented the tactfulness and rationality of Iran’s politicians.”
He further strongly criticized the US and some Western countries’ action in creating tension in the region, stressing that, “We believe that the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the main pillars of stability and security in the region.”
Further in the telephone conversation, the two presidents reviewed the latest state of bilateral cooperation in various fields of trade, security, energy, transportation, and science and technology, and emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of agreements and memorandum of understanding between the two countries and develop cooperation.
