Beijing: Eleven people were killed in a coal mine accident in Shuangyashan City, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province.
According to an initial investigation, the accident that occurred at the Shuangyang coal mine of Heilongjiang Longmay Shuangyashan Mining Co., Ltd. was caused by rock burst, Xinhua news agency reported.
The search and rescue work has been completed, and a further investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
China has been working on improving mine safety to combat accidents that happen with some frequency. In August, another coal mine explosion also killed 11 people in northern China’s Shaanxi province. A coal mine fire in southern China’s Guizhou province killed 16 people in September. (QNA)
