WNAM MONITORING: President Putin is on a state visit to Vietnam from June 19-20 at an invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.
Attending the welcoming ceremony on the Vietnamese side were: General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Minister of National Defense; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs; Tran Hong Ha, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Vietnamese Subcommittee in the Vietnam-Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation; Nguyen Khac Dinh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group; Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Bui Thanh Sơn, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Le Khanh Hai, Chief of the Presidential Office; Senior Lieutenant General Lương Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security; Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment; Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Industry and Trade; Ho Duc Phoc, Minister of Finance; Nguyen Van Thang, Minister of Transport; Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training; Huynh Thanh Dat, Minister of Science and Technology; Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Nguyễn Thi Hong, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee; and Dang Minh Khoi, Ambassador of Vietnam to the Russian Federation.
The Russian leader is accompanied by Foreign Minister Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Russian sub-committee of the Vietnam-Russia intergovernmental committee on economic-trade and science-technology cooperation Dmitry Nikolaevich Chernyshenko, and Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko, among others.
After the welcome ceremony, the Presidents, heading their respective high-ranking delegations, commenced their talks to review the results of bilateral cooperation over the past time and discuss orientations for the coming time.
Russian Ambassador to Vietnam G.S. Bezdetko said that the President’s visit aims to boost cooperation in multiple fields, including economy, investment, science – technology, education – training, culture, tourism, humanitarian exchanges, and national defence – security.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi stated that the Russian leader’s visit will provide a chance for leaders of the two countries to discuss and seek specific measures to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation, including the speeding up of major joint projects, especially those in the areas of energy, industry, and agriculture.
Regarding its significance to the realisation of the Joint Statement on 2030 Vision for Development of Vietnam – Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Ambassador Khoi said the event has an important meaning, especially in the context that the two sides are working hard to implement the document.
