WNAM MONITORING: A series of agreements signed between Baku and Islamabad during President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Pakistan go beyond immediate economic benefits, signaling a strong, strategic alliance that contributes to regional stability and prosperity. In addition, the two countries can benefit from joint strategies to combat climate change, Tahir Farooq, editor-in-chief of Daily Ittehad Media Group & Pakistan Economic Net, and Vice President of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), told.

“President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Pakistan is indeed a significant milestone in the history of bilateral relations between the two nations. This visit underscores the enduring and robust bond between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, which has been marked by mutual support and cooperation over the years. In the current context, this visit holds even greater importance as Pakistan is grappling with an economic crisis, and the gesture of solidarity from Azerbaijan serves as a testament to their unwavering support.

President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Pakistan is truly a landmark moment for both countries. It’s clear that the economic and energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan has reached new heights with this visit. The signing of several MOUs, especially those focusing on the supply of LNG, joint oil and gas exploration, and energy infrastructure projects, demonstrates a deepening partnership that is set to address Pakistan’s energy challenges head-on,” he noted.

“Moreover, the focus on strategic projects like transport and logistics corridors shows a shared vision for regional integration and connectivity.

In addition to the significant strides in economic and energy cooperation, there are several other promising areas for future development between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. Tourism cooperation stands out as a particularly exciting avenue. Both countries have rich cultural heritages and stunning natural landscapes that could attract tourists from around the world. Joint efforts in promoting tourism, simplifying visa processes, and creating tourism packages could immensely benefit both economies,” he said.

“Climate change is another critical area where Azerbaijan and Pakistan can collaborate. Both nations are vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and can benefit from shared strategies to combat it. Joint initiatives in renewable energy projects, reforestation programs, and sustainable agriculture could help mitigate climate risks while promoting environmental conservation,” he added.

“Additionally, there is great potential in education and technology exchange. Collaborative research projects, student exchange programs, and technology transfer agreements can enhance the educational and technological capabilities of both countries. Health cooperation, particularly in sharing medical expertise and resources, can also be a vital area of collaboration, especially in light of global health challenges,” he said. “Overall, these areas of cooperation could significantly deepen the bilateral relationship, contributing to mutual growth and stability. The potential for future development is vast and, if effectively harnessed, can bring substantial benefits to both Azerbaijan and Pakistan.”
