WNAM REPORT: The International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024, scheduled for September 5-6 in Jakarta, is expected to result in a range of agreements, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated.
He underlined that Indonesia would hold the ISF 2024 at the Jakarta Convention Center following its success in organizing last year’s edition of the forum.
“We are aiming to drive Indonesia to continue organizing this forum, making it an annual agenda,” he remarked virtually at a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday
On the same occasion, Pandjaitan’s Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination, Rachmat Kaimuddin, revealed that over eight thousand people have registered to participate in the forum.
He further highlighted that the international event will feature 15 thematic discussion sessions and bring up the need to utilize new and renewable energy resources to harmonize economic growth and environmental sustainability.
The forum will also touch upon the use of technologies instrumental for protecting the environment from air pollution and improving waste management, he added.
Kaimuddin then stated that Indonesia had planned on leading guests, including official representatives from the Vatican, Singapore, and Malaysia, to use electric vehicles during their visit in an effort to reduce carbon emissions.
Meanwhile, a representative of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Shinta Kamdani, expressed hope that this year’s ISF would help Indonesia reaffirm its staunch support for eco-friendly economic activities.
She remarked that the forum could serve as a platform for multinational figures to exchange notes on the implementation of green practices and provide Indonesia with a chance to showcase the wide green business opportunities it has to offer.
The ISF 2024 will spotlight five main issues: the green economy, energy transition, environmental preservation and biodiversity conservation, sustainable lifestyles, and the blue economy.
