WNAM REPORT: Tashkent hosted the Fifth Forum of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan. The party’s activities in 2020-2024, the election program, and the nomination of candidates to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis were discussed.
“As part of the 2020-2024 election program, the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan plans to implement more than 80 tasks”, said the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Central Council of the party Abdushukur Khamzayev. “During this period, members of the party faction submitted 21 draft laws to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis based on the right of legislative initiative. The party faction on parliamentary control held 4 parliamentary hearings, 5 parliamentary and 6 government hours, and sent 95 parliamentary inquiries”.
Over the past five years, the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan has focused on active communication with the population. A hotline has been launched in the party’s Central Council, the party organization of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and each regional council, and a comprehensive system for receiving citizens’ requests has been created.
With the participation of the party activists, a project and map for creating protective forests on the dried-up bottom of the Aral Sea were developed. The projects “Help the Aral” in 2021, “A Look at the Aral” in 2022, and “Unite for Green Development” in 2023 were implemented. In the Aral Sea region of Muynak district and Kyzylkum desert of Khorezm region, 7 “Eco-gardens of Friendship” were created.
The election program of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan was also discussed at the forum.
It should be noted that the party platform includes essential initiatives and proposals aimed at the country’s sustainable development, achieving environmental safety, creating a comfortable living environment for present and future generations, and preserving natural resources.
The deputies discussed nominating candidates from the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. As a result, 75 candidates were nominated from single-mandate majoritarian constituencies and 100 candidates from the party list. At the same time, 44.6 percent of the candidates are women.As noted at the forum, candidates’ documents will be transferred to the Central Election Commission for registration as soon as possible.
