WNAM REPORT: A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Central Asia Association of Artificial Intelligence (AICA).
This document, signed by the Chairman of the Supreme Court Bakhtiyor Islamov and Chairman of the Central Asia Association of Artificial Intelligence Vladimir Norov, is aimed at the gradual introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into the activities of courts.
The parties will continue to develop and strengthen bilateral open and mutually beneficial cooperation in this area.
It should be noted that the Presidential Decree “On additional measures to further expand access to justice and improve the efficiency of the courts” was adopted on January 16, 2023.
The decree approved a short-term Strategy for raising the judicial system to a qualitatively new level for 2023-2026. It provides for introducing information and communication technologies in courts and ensuring information security.
The Action Program for implementing this strategy to expand the digitalization of judicial authorities’ activities sets the task of introducing artificial intelligence technologies into courts’ activities to provide legal assistance to citizens, automatically prepare judicial acts, and analyze court decisions.
Specific measures have been developed to fully digitalize courts’ activities, introduce artificial intelligence technologies, improve interdepartmental electronic data exchange, and expand opportunities for remote participation in court sessions as part of the implementation of these tasks.
The scale of digitalization and the acceleration of development trends worldwide have opened the way for the widespread dissemination of information technologies in the legal system.
It is necessary to establish close contact and cooperation with leading experts and specialists in this field, considering the introduction of systems for providing legal assistance to citizens, automatic preparation of court documents, and analysis of court decisions.
The memorandum will serve the effective use of artificial intelligence.
