WNAM REPORT: The IV meeting of the International Association “Türkmen alabaý itleri” (“Turkmen Alabai”) was held in Ashgabat, timed to coincide with the Turkmen Alabai Day.

The meeting, which took place at the Center of International Associations of Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding and “Türkmen alabaý itleri”, was attended by heads and specialists of specialized structures and various departments, higher education institutions, as well as members of the Association from the velayats, and media representatives. Foreign dog breeders joined them via videoconference.

Before the start, the forum participants got acquainted with the exhibition in the foyer of works of national decorative and applied art and photography, folk crafts, paintings, printed materials, carpets and sculptures, where the main characters are Turkmen Alabai dogs.

During the forum, issues related to the organization’s activities were discussed. In addition, it was announced that new members would be accepted into the organization, and state awards would be presented to the best dog handlers in the country. The meeting participants also discussed future tasks and made appropriate decisions.

It was noted that among the priority tasks facing the International Association “Türkmen alabaý itleri” are the preservation of the purebred and popularization of this breed in the world, breeding and increasing the number of these dogs in the centers created in the velayats and Ashgabat, scientifically based selection and breeding work, organization of exhibitions and competitions of Turkmen alabai in the country and abroad.

One of the main objectives of the Association is to establish cooperation with foreign colleagues specializing in this field.

During the meeting, the following members of the International Association spoke: the head of the Turkmen-French archaeological expedition in Ulugdepe, Giulio Bendezu-Sarmiento, professor, doctor of the faculty of hunting and wildlife of the Artvin Coruh University of the Republic of Turkey Murat Kibar, the head of the China-Turkmenistan Cultural Center (PRC), private dog breeder An Zhinlong, heads of the centers of the International Association “Türkmen alabaý itleri” in Ashgabat and the velayats.

Then, according to the holders of the honorary title “Türkmenistanyň at gazanan itşynasy” were awarded.

In accordance with the Decision of the head of Turkmenistan, the President of the International Association “Türkmen alabaý itleri”, its new members were presented with certificates, the source notes.
