ISLAMABAD( WNAM REPORT): The Clean and Green Islamabad (CGI) Movement has launched a cleanliness drive in the parks of the federal capital. On Sunday, Chairman CGI Movement Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, along with his team, actively participated in cleaning Fatima Jinnah F-9 Park using special waste-picker sticks, dedicating their efforts to making the park clean and green.
The CGI team, wearing designated uniforms and equipped with waste-picking sticks, collected garbage from the park and filled approximately ten large biodegradable waste bags. They also distributed awareness pamphlets and encouraged other park visitors to join the campaign.
The activity saw participation from notable individuals, including First Women Bank Assistant Vice President Rubina Nasir, Fatima Hassan, Sobia, Ayesha, Zia Chaudhry, Owais Malik, Shahbaz Chauhan, and others.
Addressing the participants of the campaign, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari emphasized:
“Cleanliness is half of faith, and it is our collective responsibility to keep our environment clean. Instead of littering parks and public places, every citizen should take responsibility and carry a waste bag with them. Food wrappers and other trash should be placed in waste bags and disposed of in nearby bins. This campaign is not just an activity but a means to encourage citizens to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle.”
He highlighted that most of the garbage consists of plastic bags, which are harmful to both health and the environment. He urged the public to switch to biodegradable waste bags and emphasized that abandoning plastic bags is the need of the hour.
Bakhtawari further stated:
“To improve the environment and safeguard our health, we must actively participate in tree-planting initiatives, cleanliness campaigns, and awareness drives. This will benefit not only our city but also future generations.”
The campaign serves as a testament to the CGI Movement’s commitment to fostering a cleaner, greener Islamabad and inspiring citizens to take proactive steps for environmental conservation.
