Jakarta (WNAM MONITORING): Trade Minister Budi Santoso underscored that the entrepreneurship rate is an important indicator for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
According to him, a country’s economic growth is not only viewed from the increase in per capita income but also from the progress of the entrepreneurship sector because it can create many jobs and create equity.
“It is no longer the time for graduates to focus on looking for a job; they should also seize opportunities to be an entrepreneur,” he said in a statement from his ministry here on Sunday.
Indonesia’s goal of becoming a developed country is inseparable from various efforts to develop entrepreneurship because a developed country must at least have a 10 percent entrepreneurship rate.
He further said that the demographic dividend is a big potential for Indonesia, which will also be supported by infrastructure, facilities, and policies that are in accordance with the country’s development direction.
Santoso also noted that education plays a key role in making Indonesia a developed country.
He stated that education is a strategic sector to improve competitiveness, both in terms of competence and knowledge. In addition, higher education institutions have business incubation programs to prepare entrepreneurs to carry out exports.
The minister affirmed that his ministry has three priority programs, namely securing the domestic market, expanding export markets, and improving micro, small, and medium enterprises to be able to export their products.
The Ministry of Trade is ready and open to collaborating with various parties to realize those three main programs optimally.
Earlier, Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Maman Abdurrahman on November 25, 2024, noted that the entrepreneurship rate in Indonesia has only reached 3.47 percent as of October 2024.
