ISLAMABAD: ( WNAM MONITORING): Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev met with the Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Syedaal Khan.
The meeting focused on deepening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, ensuring parliamentary oversight of the implementation of high-level agreements, and strengthening ties between the legislative bodies of the two nations.
At the outset, both sides acknowledged that fruitful negotiations between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Pakistan have propelled bilateral cooperation into a phase of consistent development across all sectors. They highlighted significant agreements, including initiatives on regional infrastructure connectivity, such as the construction of the Trans-Afghan Railway.
The importance of parliamentary platforms in advancing intergovernmental relations and monitoring high-level agreements was emphasized.
Sayedaal Khan advocated for enhanced collaboration between the upper chambers of the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Pakistan, sharing proposals on strengthening ties with Uzbek colleagues in the near future. He particularly underscored the importance of leveraging friendship groups within the Senate systems of both nations, organizing reciprocal visits, and conducting online meetings to address priority issues.
The discussions also noted that regular interactions would provide a strong foundation for advancing trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. This would significantly increase trade turnover, diversify export-import portfolios, and utilize regional forums as practical mechanisms for achieving these goals.
